So you’re planning a trip to Holden Beach, Sunset Beach, or Ocean Isle Beach? Or, maybe you’re in the midst of preparing for a visit to another beach. No matter the case, especially if you have children, you know they’re hungry constantly, well, at the first lull in activity, if you know what we mean.
As you’re choosing snacks, you have to consider where you’re going to be. You also have to consider that with so much going on, children won’t want to sit down and eat a major meal that takes time to consume. They want to get right back into the action.
Since you’re dealing with the mess and trying to keep everything regulated, you also want to consider what you can easily have underneath your cabana rental in Sunset Beach, Holden Beach, or Ocean Isle Beach.
Here’s a list of some of our favorite beach snacks:
Fruit
Fruit is a win all the way around. First and foremost, it’s rich in vitamins and minerals that your child’s little growing body needs to thrive. For instance, strawberries are rich in vitamin C and potassium.
They consist mainly of water and fiber, two other nutrients that the body needs. And their sugar content is low, consisting of glucose, sucralose, and fructose.
Watermelon and cantaloupe are other excellent choices to include for snacks. Both of these have a high water content to help your little one stay hydrated while in the heat.
Especially if you have multiple children with different preferences, it might benefit you to make a fruit tray. They can grab a piece here or there as they want. You can even add some veggies to that tray as well.
For a bit of a surprise, you could also freeze cherries, grapes, and blueberries. Your child will still get the benefits of the fruits, but they’re frozen treats – winning all the way around!
Snack Wraps
Sandwiches are the go-to meal for the beach, but wraps are taking over. What’s nice about these is you can create small ones that your child can grab on the go. They don’t have to sit down and consume a meal. They merely grab one and go back to enjoying the beach.
And they’re as simple as using breaded chicken, or making your own, and adding some lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc.
You can also create an assortment of variations depending on your family’s preferences. For instance, peanut butter, banana, and granola are an option if your family has more of a sweet tooth or doesn’t consume meat.
Rice Cakes
Rice cakes are low in calories but still provide that crunch that many people love. Plus, there are so many flavors. These can’t act as an entire meal, but if you purchase the larger ones, your child may grab one and snack on it on the go.
We can’t forget to mention that these are a good source of energy, which is ideal if your child is the active type.
Trail Mix
Make some homemade trail mix. You can choose exactly what you want in it. So, while you can include some M&Ms for a hint of something sweet, as a bit of a treat, you don’t have to do that.
Create a bold or spicy mix instead.
Plus, when you’re including peanuts and raisins, for instance, you’re providing your child with protein and antioxidants, among other nutrients.
